I'm trying to get SS for my Necro but I've never played all that far through Prophecies and I'm not sure the best way to get to Southern Shiverpeaks where I can supposedly capture this skill.

I'm playing a Factions Necro so I need to know the best way to get there starting from the Lion's Arch vicinity. Do I have to go through the whole story arc up until that point or can I just travel directly to Southern Shiverpeaks right from where I am?

Get a run to Camp Rankor (or Droknar's Forge, Rankor is along the way). From Rankor, zone into and out of Talus Chute until the SS boss appears.

1. Go to Beacon's Perch.
2. Purchase a Drok's Run.
3. Go to Camp Rankor.
4. Zone into Talus Chute and look for the boss just outside of town.
5. Repeat step 4 until the boss that spawns is Nighh SpineChill.
6. Kill Nighh SpineChill and cap SS.

Ok cool, thanks for the info. How much is it normally for a run to Rankor?

The full run is usually 2k. 1k for the rangkor stop, and 1k for Drok's for there.

The problems that you would encounter if you were to fight your way down from Beacon to Rankor are:
1. the party size at Beaon's is 6
2. the areas south of Beacon's are desigend for a party of 8
3. hench that you can add are around lvl 10
4. you need to fight you way though Dreadnought's Drift - which is one of the hardest areas in Prophecies

Personally, I would go from LA to Bergen Hot Springs, then Temple Of Ages, Fisherman's Haven, Sanctum Cay and then do the desert missions. Those areas and missions are among the biggest crapfests in the game - so I'd just get it over and done with as soon as possible.

Why would you want SS when your factions Necro can spam Discord for A LOT of damage?

How can you justify wasting an elite slot on discord? I would honestly like an answer to this as my previous comment was deleted.

Discord = Elite Spell. If target foe is suffering from a condition and under the effects of a hex or an enchantment, that foe suffers 30...94...110 damage.

Cost = 5e 1 second activation 2 second recharge.

Necrosis = Spell. If target foe is suffering from a condition or hex, that foe suffers 60...90 damage.

Cost = 5e 1 second activation 2 second recharge.

Less conditional and doesn't require you to WASTE an elite slot.

Thats without even touching on the use of SS as a farming skill.

As you get to Lion's Arch, you can be runned to Shiverpeaks (anywhere), i suggest you a Minion Master or Team Discordway for a start.

Discord can be used 4 times a second, every 2 seconds when you have 3 necros. Necrosis? Once every two seconds. Also Discord deals 30 damage more on 16 Death Magic (or 15 Death Magic). And you dont have to grind, you can just get the correct runes. And conditions are easy to meet - Suffering + Weakening Blood. Put one on hero, one on the other hero.

EVEN were he to use Discord Heros, the standard build to run it would be a AP caller. there is NEVER a good reason to use discord as a primary necro.
